Carolyn Yvonne Fly Adams, born on March 25, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, was the beloved daughter of the late David and Annie Fly. Growing up in a family that valued education and hard work, Carolyn developed a deep sense of purpose and determination that would guide her throughout her life. She was the proud sibling in a close-knit family, where the importance of community and love was always emphasized.

Carolyn’s educational journey began in Humboldt, Tennessee, where she graduated from Stigall High School in 1964. Her passion for learning and her dream of becoming an educator led her to pursue higher education. Carolyn initially enrolled at Tennessee State University but later transferred to Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. It was at Lane College that she truly realized her calling to teach and inspire young minds.

In 1968, Carolyn married her soulmate, George Albert Adams, affectionately known as “Rocking Chair.” Their union was built on love, mutual respect, and a shared vision for a bright future. Together, they raised two children: Donna Ann Adams and John Quincy Adams, who became the center of Carolyn’s world. Their family was her pride, and she cherished every moment with them.

Carolyn's career as an educator spanned 25 years in the Humboldt City School System, where she spent most of her time teaching third grade. She always knew she wanted to work with children, and teaching was her way of making a lasting impact. She had a special connection with her students, nurturing not only their academic growth but also their character. Carolyn was known for her unwavering dedication to her students’ success, and she found great joy in watching them flourish.

One of Carolyn’s standout talents was her ability to coach students in public speaking. She helped many of her students prepare for speech contests, and they often went on to become top winners. It was through these moments that Carolyn’s gift for encouragement and mentorship shone brightest. She believed that each student had a unique voice and potential, and she made sure they felt confident enough to share it.

In addition to her role as an educator, Carolyn was an active member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., an organization that fostered a sense of sisterhood, service, and empowerment. Her involvement in the sorority was a reflection of her lifelong commitment to making a difference in the community and empowering others.

Carolyn was also a dedicated member of New Abundant Life Church, where her faith was a source of strength and inspiration. Her deep belief in God guided her through life’s challenges and fueled her desire to serve others with love and compassion.

Even when faced with health struggles, Carolyn’s determination, commitment, and zeal to empower others never faltered. She continued to pour into the lives of those around her, always focusing on lifting others up, no matter her personal battles.
